FIGHT CLUB FACTZ:

Chuck Palahnuik was originally inspired to write Fight Club after coming into work one day with injuries and scars.

He got them from arguing with rednecks in the woods, and getting his ass handed to him.

What intrigued him, was not how he got his injuries, but the fact that no one in his office would even dare to acknowledge them.

Palahniuk concluded that the reason people reacted this way was because if they asked him what had happened, a degree of personal interaction would be necessary, and his workmates simply didn’t care enough to connect with him on a personal level.

It was his fascination with this societal ‘blocking’ which became the foundation for the novel.
